January 13, 2014

A group of religious professionals and acedamics from the Islamic, Christian and Jewish faith backgrounds in Dublin have started a “Scriptural Reasoning” group, based in Trinity College Dublin.

The group will meet on a 6 week base, with the purpose of increasing appreciation of each other’s holy scriptures and deepening understanding of their own scripture.

The first study meeting will take place in October and the theme will be ‘Our Common Humanity’. Presenters will each give a presentation for 10 minutes and discuss passages or verses from their religious scripture regarding the theme. Then a 20-minute discussion will follow on the presented text.

Darren McCallig will host the session and the chairman will be Adrian Cristea.

Presenters agreed are Imam Sheikh Umar Al-Qadri for the Islamic scriptures, Rev Celia Kenny for Christian scriptures and Estelle Menton for the Jewish scriptures.
