In Loving Memory of Brother Arif Rana

February 13, 2026

It is with profound sadness and heavy hearts that the Islamic Centre of Ireland announces the passing of our beloved brother, Arif Rana.

Brother Arif was not a scholar, nor did he seek recognition or praise. He was a simple, humble servant of Allah whose sincerity, dedication, and quiet service left a lasting impact on everyone who walked through the doors of our mosque.

For many years, he devoted himself wholeheartedly to the service of the masjid and its community. Whether it was ensuring the cleanliness and upkeep of the mosque, welcoming visitors with his warm smile, or assisting worshippers in any way possible, Brother Arif embodied the true spirit of khidmah (service).

During the blessed month of Ramadan, he took special responsibility for organising and overseeing the daily iftar for over 150–200 people each night. He showed particular care for students and young people, often ensuring they had extra food to take home for suhoor so they would not face hardship. His compassion was practical, sincere, and consistent.

In recent days, hundreds gathered at the Centre to offer condolences and share their memories. Many struggled to speak through tears, a testament to how deeply he was loved. We have received countless messages from across Ireland from those who remember being welcomed by Brother Arif with kindness and warmth.

Brother Arif returned to his Lord while performing the Asr prayer , a departure from this world in a state of worship. We pray that Allah accepts this as a sign of a beautiful ending and grants him the highest ranks in Jannatul Firdaus.

His funeral prayer was held at the Islamic Centre of Ireland on Wednesday 11 February 2026 and he will be laid to rest in Pakistan. The Chief Imam, Shaykh Dr Umar Al-Qadri, will be traveling to Pakistan to lead his Janazah prayers there.

We ask Allah (SWT) to forgive him, elevate his rank, expand and illuminate his grave, and grant patience and strength to his beloved wife, children, family, and all who mourn him.

Brother Arif will be dearly missed. His legacy of service, humility, and sincerity will remain part of this masjid for generations to come.

Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji’un.
