October 22, 2020

Islamic Centre Ireland notes the decision by the Government, following advice from NPHET, to escalate Ireland to Level 5 of the “Plan for Living with COVID-19”.

Shaykh Dr Umar Al-Qadri, Chief Imam of Islamic Centre Ireland, said that for the second time this year, we are suspending all prayers – including the Friday congregational prayer – at the Islamic Centre of Ireland with immediate effect and calling on other Islamic centres in Ireland to follow suit.

Due to the suspension of the Friday prayer in the Islamic Centres, virtual Friday prayer shall be performed. Muslims in Ireland can join the Virtual Friday prayer on the following channel: http://www.youtube.com/nooralhidayah

Those who attend the Virtual Jumuah Prayer are advised they can perform the 2 Rakah of Jumuah together but must perform additional 4 Rakah of Zuhr. More information about the permissibility and the Fiqh of Virtual Jumuah prayer can be found in the following Fatwa:
